Buyer Frequently Asked Questions

Buying a home is a challenging and thrilling experience. Here is a rundown of some of the frequently asked questions from both experienced home buyers and first-time home buyers.

I am planning to purchase a home. Where should I begin?

Researching, educating yourself about the market, fact-finding and reading articles are great ways to become a smart future homeowner.

First, it is best to get acquainted with your personal finances and carefully review your budget.

What is the first step of the home buying process?

We recommend to get a pre-approval letter so that we know exactly what type of budget we are working with so we can narrow down homes efficiently and save time! If you don’t have a lender yet, don’t worry. We work with awesome, trustworthy lenders that you can use. We recommend using one of our trusted partners to help you get started and make the transaction go as smooth as possible. It’s easy to get pre-approved! Reach out to our team to set you up for a free buyer’s consultation.

Should I buy or rent a house?

We get this question a lot and the answer is not that simple. Choosing to buy or rent is a major decision that affects your financial health, lifestyle, and personal goals. While buying a home can be a sizeable investment, renting may be the better option depending on your lifestyle and current financial situation. Remember, both provides you with a place to live and require regular income in order to make the payments. It is also important to ask yourself these important questions – Am I ready for the general home maintenance and associated costs? How long do I plan on staying here? If the answer is only a few years, you should continue renting.

How many homes should I look at before buying?

In reality, today’s home buyer probably actually views a lot more homes than the home buyer of the past. They just view them from the comfort of their own apartment or home, thanks to technology. On average a home buyer looks at 5 houses but there is no set rule on how many houses you can view, we want you to be sure you love the house before making an offer. It is equally important to make an offer as well especially in a competitive market where some homes may go off market the day after they are even listed.

How do I choose the right agent?

When you decide to buy a house, you want to make sure you find the one who has experience with buyers in situations similar to your own and who really knows the local area. Our family real estate team is locally known, globally connected and is extremely knowledgeable at identifying your home needs, communicating with you at a regular basis to help you get matched with the house of your dreams. We make sure you receive the Kerezsi Real Estate experience.
